Just south of Auckland lies the county of Franklin, a bundle of small market gardening towns whose inhabitants share a love of growing, eating and selling fresh produce.

This March, the county will become home to Taste Franklin Festival, a not-so-distant relative of Taste of Auckland.

Although in size the event isn’t as grand as Auckland City’s, festival organiser Nicky Swan says there will be no shortage of excitement.

“Nadia Lim is going to be at the event speaking and doing book signing and I am hoping one other celebrity chef may be able to come too, but that is to be confirmed,” she says.

Along with a slice of celebrity, there will also be an abundance of live music, kids entertainment and great food.

Gates open at 11am and the event will be held at Karaka Sports Park, just a 10 minute drive from both Pukekohe and Papakura.
